INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMETTEE
CLOSING CEREMONY, LONDON
More than 200 dancers and 82 musicians playing Samba drums gave an eight-minute performance designed to illustrate Brazil's "multicultural embrace" during the closing ceremony at London's Olympic Stadium. A colourful parade of dancers exploded onto the stage. Most of the performers wore costumes with led elements which lit up to the beat of the music. At the end a secret guest appeared on the stage: the football legend Pelè. Two Brazilian Olympic athletes, Maurren Maggi and Robert Scheidt, joined the group for a final embrace as a giant inflatable of the Rio 2016 Olympic logo unfolded at center stage. A pyrotechnic display lit up the stadium.
